Nyk de Vries is a poet, writer and musician. He was born in Friesland and now lives and works in Amsterdam. In the course of his creative work, De Vries unintentionally happened upon the prose poem. He considers the texts to be byproducts of his own stream of thoughts about apparently unimportant or trivial matters. His poems are short, strange and melancholic, and he strives for compactness, combined with a surprising twist. His work has been published in both Frisian and Dutch.
